Sorry, I wasn't paying attention there. No not at all. Only discovered them as a result of the Immigrant thing.

Sorry, I wasn't paying attention there. No not at all. Only discovered them as a result of the Immigrant thing. Oh, ok. Well, this is what I'd written in reply (and then deleted when it occured to me that perhaps it was your label and you might be offended)... Well, and I say this as someone who buys at least as many tapes and records as CDs, I find their approach to formats a bit daft - releasing something on floppy disk; releasing an album that would've fitted onto one tape on a 5-tape box set. It always strikes me as the kind of label that would be run by someone who has, from afar, noticed the prevalence of obscure formats in underground music circles, but doesn't fully grasp the context in which such formats are appreciated and interacted with - like they've picked up on the awkwardness of the format thing, but nothing else. I also find the roster of artists they've released just a bit odd - not that I dislike anyone they've released by, but it doesn't feel like it represents a cohesive vision of a label. In the same way that you get some festivals that seem to have some sort of a curatorial vision, and others that just look like they've assembled anyone who would agree to it. I mean, I know it's loosely based on underground approaches, but not in any way that really seems to hang together. I'm all for eclecticism but, for me, a label - particularly one that deals in very limited runs etc - should have a bit more identity to it. All that said, I get the impression that the guy who runs it is a very nice and enthusiastic sort of fella and I don't want to piss on his chips when he's actually there doing something that he believes in.

Thank you for being so considerate, although if I was associated with them I would have taken the comments in the spirit they were intended. As you say he seems like a decent chap and I doubt he would take umbrage either. I suspect that if I ran a label it would be very similar, unstructured and with more of a blurred/double vision rather than cohesive Might be my age but I do prefer to hold the thing in my hand (steady...) regardless of the 'thing' format. I admit to buying some things purely based on their odd format but I also admit to genuinely liking the content...not always.....but the discovery of something completely new is still something I get a kick out of. Ironically the Immigrant 3" CD's arrived today - I'll post some pics when I get chance.
