Maaaan was it good fun reading aw'bdy's responses to the "tell us a joke or something nice" bit of our Howlin' Fling ticket competition. You'll see a scientific* statistical breakdown of all entries above, in pie-chart form. Mmm, pie.
Some random highlights from the responses:
- "This guy might make your day -> www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6Xo21L0ybE"
- "τελευταίος να κλείσει την παρένθεση"
- "Johnny has nice eyes. Dreamy, even."
- "You're all a most brilliant group of people in a most brilliant collective with beautiful ideas - thankyouthankyouthankyou. Please allow me entry to your most wonderful shindig."
- "You should probably just give me these tickets because I'm just going to sneak in if you don't!"
- "I'm Rozi Plain's mum and what could be nicer than that?"
- "I grew up on an island with two traffic lights and my parents named me Fanny."
- "What's small and eggy? Eigg."
- "I drove my first tractor on Eigg."
- "My wonderful brother and wife are visiting from LA and have never been on a festival in England before."
- "I think Kate Canaveral (Lazda) is lovely."
- "In my old job, I used to sit next to Johnny Lynch's cousin, Steven. This is almost as much of a crap claim to fame as my other one: I once met a bloke on a train who did Bruce Foxton's guttering."
- "You have beautiful eyes. I could stare into them forever and never get bored."
- "My granddad moved the eye of the whale in the film Moby Dick."
ANNNNNNNNNDDDDD... without further ado, it's time to announce the winner of our Lost Map's Howlin' Fling Tell Us A Joke Or Something Nice Competition... Congratulations Kerri Aniello, two tickets to the Howlin' Fling are yours! Kerri's entry - picked out at random - contained this frankly UNBELIEVABLE video of a bear waving very camply, with the most apt caption: "This guy might make your day". He did! And he also just made Kerri's day! Yay for Kerri! Yay for bears! Yay for the internet!
To everyone else who entered: THANKS! And don't be too sad about missing out because - unless we manage to party so hard this July we sink Eigg - there will be more Howlin' Flings in future years, not to mention before that many more 'citing Lost Map festivals and events, starting with, ahem, hint, hint, Randolph's Leap's Clumsy Knot album launch at Kinning Park Complex, Glasgow on Sat, Apr 4. Details on many more such shindigs to follow very soon - watch this space. Until then, go and cheer yourself by watching that video of the bear, again.
