The chaps that made Way Of The Morris (including the legendary Tim Plester, who was often seen at London Fence gigs back "in the day", usually following James Barbarossa with a camera) are putting together a documentary/biopic of the life of Shirley Collins, from her early field-recording trips with Alan Lomax in the States, to her career as a folk singer in the '60s and '70s, subsequent 30-year retirement from public performance, and only-recent return to the stage. The film is being funded via Kickstarter, with just a week left to pledge - one of the many rewards available is an exclusive Bandcamp download of an album of songs from her repertoire, including the one above by Lady Rozzchester of this very parish, plus various other people you will have probably heard of (you know, Bonnie 'Prince' Billy, Alasdair Roberts, Sam Amidon, Graham Coxon etc. etc...). It's very exciting to see an effort to make this film about someone who, aside from being one of my personal favourite vocalists, is really an under-recognised national institution. Please have a look at the Kickstarter and help some genuine, passionate people to make a film, likewise, about a similar subject! For anyone nearby and not off to Eigg, there are also end-of-campaign parties happening this Sunday, in London and Glasgow, with some great people playing - details here! www.facebook.com/shirleycollinsmovie/events

And I haven't seen Breaking Bad, but I know a lot of people are fans, so this may also be of interest.

Well, that's a relief. They still need as much help as they can get though, they've made target to make the film on minimum budget, but have ambitious plans (including taking Shirley back to the places she visited with Alan Lomax, collecting songs in '59) if they can raise more, so please have a look if you're so inclined, and assuming you can co-ordinate your hand and eye movements following Howlin' Fling.
Loads more amazing peeps on the exclusive Bandcamp download too... including Eric Chenaux, C Joynes, and this gorgeous take by Trembling Bells and yer Alasdair Roberts...
