Hullo Lost Mappers,
This is a thread to discuss your transportation plans for Howlin' Fling! ... if you've been lucky enough to get tickets, then you might want to start planning your journey soon.
It's going to be another month or so before you can start reserving cheap train tickets ... BUT ... if you're planning on driving up and have space for a few extra passengers, you might be able to get some help with petrol costs.
Similarly, if you're looking for a way to get up here and could use a lift, make yourself known!
So, aye, post away!

So here are my two quandaries.
1) Was planning on making my own way over to Eigg on Wednesday, but realise that probably means being In Mallaig on Tuesday night (not 100% objectionable, but I might be with a non-Howlin' friend who is visiting from the colonies). Any recommendations for places to stay in Mallaig or Fort William?
2) I am booked onto the last boat off the Island, does anyone also on that boat have space to give me a lift south?
I thank you.

(it's a nice brand new travelodge, too ... not old and stinky)

There's no calmac boat on a wednesday in summer. I'd recommend booking on to the shearwater (arisaig) if you're coming wednesday. You can get a train from fort william that'll meet the boat with plenty o time

I think we might be on the last boat off on the Monday I'll have to check. I imagine we'll be travelling with Pipes who might be doing some train from warrington or something. This is a vague post I know, what I mean to say is we should talk some more on this.

No super-early Monday ones ... other than the Sheerwater, which is fully booked now i think? There's a CalMac late on the Sunday - leaves at 16.25 gets in a 18.50. There's a Sheerwater late on the Sunday too, i think? Call in sick on Monday!

Hello fellow flingers, I'm looking for a lift from Edinburgh or Glasgow on the Friday morning to make the 11am ferry from Arisaig or Thursday evening with some camping over...(Arisaig campsites look lovely)....
Also looking for a lift from Arisaig to Glasgow or Edinburgh on Monday after the early morning ferry. Though I'd happily swap for a later ferry on the Monday (Kezzzasaurus?). I'd also be interested in a lift to Oban...oh the choices!

I'd be happy to swap Monday ferry with you so I could make work in the morning. Are you on the earliest ferry?

Hey Howlin' Flingers,
I'm currently booked on the Monday afternoon (1:30pm) ferry to Arisaig, but I'd like to leave earlier. Is anyone interested in switching their Monday morning ferry for a later one?
Cheers, Kristine

Any takers?

We are driving up from Glasgow on the Friday to catch the 6.30pm ferry from Arisaig. Then we leave on the Monday night ferry at 7.30pm to drive back down to Glasgow.
We could give someone a lift if they need it?
